2011 Prospect Evaluation Camps
Baseball Northwest’s 2011 Prospect Evaluation Camps will expand in number again for the 2011 summer to seventeen with the addition of a Wyoming camp. The expansion of sites and dates which began last year is to provide for players more choices to attend around the busy summer schedule. The expansion will also accommodate the expanding interest level of the player and provide more evaluation opportunities for Baseball Northwest personnel along with college coaches and professional scouts. A player may attend any one of the Evaluation Camps on his class day. The same format will continue for the invitation only event. The day includes infield/outfield, batting practice, and game scrimmage. SPARQ testing will also continue for all players.
BBNW will invite players in the each of the graduating classes (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015) from each Evaluation Camp areas. Those players are selected for invitation by recommendation from professional scouts, college coaches, Baseball Northwest personnel, and from “open” tryout camps. All northwest high school coaches are also sent recommendation forms to nominate players for consideration. Invitations to the Prospect Evaluation Camps will begin to be mailed in February and continue throughout the spring and summer as players are recommended and evaluated. Players receiving Prospect Evaluation Camp invites do not need to attend the “open” tryout camps that run in March, April, and May.
Players on the rosters of the Prospect Evaluation Camps will be selected for are teams for this year’s 13th annual Northwest Championship Tournament in Centralia, WA. on August 10-14. The Prospect Evaluation Camps are the top evaluation event for Baseball Northwest and provides the best way for players to also be selected for the other unique top player programs including the USA Baseball 14u and 16u National Championship Tournament, the USA Baseball 13u, 15u, and 17u National Identification Series, BBNW senior, junior, and underclassmen fall scout teams, Arizona Senior, Junior, and Sophomore Fall Classic Tournament Teams. More and more college coaches are attending Evaluation Camps to see players before the Northwest Championship Tournament. A group of class of 2012 players will be expected to make college verbal commitments to Division 1 schools after being seen at these camps. The rosters will be posted on the www.baseballnorthwest.com web site as players register for observing by college coaches and professional scouts.
This year’s Northwest Championship Tournament will be bigger and better than ever and will have the largest collection of the region’s best college and professional prospect ever assembled in the Northwest.
