Baseball Northwest’s ranking of northwest players is done to highlight the regions top players as evaluated by Baseball Northwest professional evaluators. It is done to inspire players and promote the game. Some college and high school coaches and professional scouts are consulted also but the final lists are put together by the Baseball Northwest staff.
The scouting reports and player lists reflect only the opinion of the Baseball Northwest staff as a whole and not any high school, college, or professional team or organization. The list reflects the long term potential of a player—the potential of the player at the next level-- not necessary high school stats.
All players listed have been seen enough by the Baseball Northwest staff to evaluate—even if the player has not attend a Baseball Northwest event—although nearly all have done so. Baseball Northwest understands the difficulty in ranking players. But no one sees all these players and as much as Baseball Northwest.
Players develop at different rates and at different times. The complete ability of the player is considered, including their desire to play and improve. Players are listed at positions they will likely play after high school. BBNW has a history of tracking the top players. We consider many more players than appear on the lists. We have likely have missed a player that should be considered…we will add and subtract from the lists throughout the year.
