Ogata Leads Northwest
Pre-Season Top Player List

Jason Ogata of Westview High School in Beaverton, OR. has been chosen by the Baseball Northwest staff as the top Northwest player for the 2005 class. Jason will play shortstop this spring and has signed a letter of intent at Louisiana State University. He narrowly won the top spot over a group of highly regarded pitchers. A strong showing on the Seattle Mariner’s area Code team and with the Oregon team at the Northwest Championships made the difference

Baseball Northwest realizes the difficulty in ranking and listing players, but it does provide a look at some of the area’s top players as evaluated by our professional staff and in consultations with other college recruiters and professional scouts. It is designed to inspire players and promote the game to all players. The overall future potential of the player is given the most weight. The 2005 player list will be updated throughout the spring and a final ranking will be announced in the Baseball Northwest newspaper and on this site. The class of 2006 and 2007 will be updated periodically on the website and a new 2008 list will be added in July after players are seen at the State Prospect Games. Recommendation forms are sent to all high school coaches in January and anyone can recommend a player for consideration by contacting us. Enjoy the list as many hours of work went into the lists. Rely on BBNW for baseball information found nowhere else.
